Arch Chapter Adopts New Strategic Plan

The Arch Chapter, meeting Aug. 7-8 at the headquarters in Fishers, Ind., adopted a five-year strategic plan for Delta Tau Delta.

The 2009-2014 plan, which will be thoroughly communicated to the Delt membership and other stakeholders in the coming months, calls for the Fraternity to continue on its core mission to expect its members to lead lives committed to excellence in college days and beyond. The plan’s preamble reads:

“Delta Tau Delta is a learning community – a dynamic, timeless and relevant organization that creates a society within and serves its neighborhood beyond. Progressive programming and a life-long network of friends is essential; for at the end of the day, the Fraternity experience creates a better man.”

The plan, developed during the past nine months by the Arch Chapter and Central Office staff, encourages Delts to:

  • Be lifelong learners, starting with the fostering of learning communities within each of our chapters and colonies in the pursuit of academic excellence and intellectual vitality

  • Employ the core Delt values in building brotherhood and involvement at all levels of the Fraternity throughout our lives

  • Use our talents to strengthen the communities we live and participate in beyond Delta Tau Delta

  • Grow the reputation and size of the Fraternity through progressive and innovative programming.

In other action, the Arch Chapter:

Approved a balanced budget for the 2010 fiscal year of Aug. 1, 2009 through July 31, 2010.

Approved the addition of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., to the Fast Track Expansion list.

Heard a report on the financial status of the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation and reviewed information related to the annual grant to the Fraternity.

Reviewed the status of the Loyalty Fund (LF) and Centennial Development Fund (CDF), from which the Fraternity extends mortgage loans to house corporations. Because house corporations have been particularly active the past three years in implementing strategies to upgrade their Shelters, funds from the LF/CDF are nearly loaned out in full with $5.15 million currently in force. Interest earned from those mortgages goes to the Fraternity’s General Fund to support Fraternity operations.

The Arch Chapter’s next scheduled meeting is Jan. 7-9, 2010, in Washington, D.C. with the Undergraduate Council.
